Check out Mango’s Tropical Café on Ocean Drive for hot salsa and cool tropical drinks, or go clubbing on Washington Avenue at venues such as Crowbar or Jazid.
Zoo Miami and the Seaquarium
For something completely different, check out Zoo Miami. This is one of the finest zoos in North America, and the Miami climate makes it a perfect home to animals from tropical regions around the world. The zoo has a natural ethos – there are no cages in the zoo, and animals roam free in much the same way that they would in the wild. Continue your tour with a visit to the Miami Seaquarium, located between Key Biscayne and downtown Miami. This has outdoor aquatic shows throughout the year, featuring killer whales and dolphins. You will also find sea lions, manatees, turtles and seals it is a top Miami attraction!
Historical sights in Miami
If you want a sample of Miami’s graceful history, head just south of downtown and visit Coral Gables – home to upscale shopping and elegant Miami mansions. The whole area is modeled after the Mediterranean and is centered around the Villa Vizcaya – a stunning estate built by James Deering in 1914 using materials that were imported from Spain and Italy. The estate actually includes parts of castles that were imported from Europe and reconstructed on the estate. Also be sure not to miss the Biltmore Hotel – this is an iconic Miami landmark with stunning architecture modeled after the cathedral in Seville.
