Best Festivals in the month of June
The paradox of June is that despite the kids being out of school and the sun inviting you outside, this is not quite the employers’ favorite month when it comes to summer vacations. But even you won’t be able to take the week off and fly to the Caribbean with an early bird ticket, there are plenty of outdoor activities and events you can enjoy in the US. June is a month rich in festivals and fairs, make it arts festivals, ethnic fairs, music fests or simply bizarre fests. While it would be unfair to say that these are the very best festivals in the month of June, they are noteworthy, for sure:
Pasadena Chalk Festival, California
The Roses Parade and the scientific community might be the two things that Pasadena is best known for, but there is much more to learn about this Californian town. Between the 18 and 19th of June, the city celebrates the 19th edition of Pasadena Chalk Festival. It’s your chance to admire several blocks of elaborate chalk paintings and maybe even witness a new world record.
Midsummer’s Eve Celebration on Casper Mountain, Wyoming
This is rather an off the beaten path event, yet a great place to take your kids. People around the area gather around a bone fire in this first day of summer and tell stories about imaginary creatures. The festival, inspired by the Scandinavian tradition, has been going on since 1929. This year’s edition will take place on June 21st, starting with 7:00 pm, at the Crimson Dawn Museum.
The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee
Camp, socialize and tune in with the hottest rock bands at the Bonnaroo festival in Tennesee. Bonnaroo has established itself as one of the best music festivals in the country. With several stages, music off all genres and lots of educational and fun activities you can enjoy during the day, this festival is a must for all music lovers. One bad piece of news, though – this year’s edition is already on, so you only have 2 more days of positive vibes.
Mariachi USA, Los Angeles
Maybe not for all tastes, this Mexican music festival is a tradition in Los Angeles, where on the 18th of June you’ll have to privilege to attend the 22nd edition. The display of colorful Mexican costumes, sombreros, great voices and cheerful orchestras is quite impressive. But if you’re determined to hear the best mariachi, make sure you book in time and get the best seats.
